Last January, Jen and Gail of Punchdrunk Panda approached me and asked about licensing one of my illustrations for their newest range of products to add to the graphic designed-sleeves and travel journals they produce. This March they launched their new skimmers, canvas shoes that are not quite sneakers and not quite ballet flats. My sushi illustration is one of five designs available!

My very own pair of skimmers arrived last week.

Yes, I’m a size 7. *hint, hint*

I love them– they’re super comfy! I used them for the first time out today (because I’ve been wearing them around the house) when I went to church and had dinner out afterwards. I’m tickled pink by the fact that I’m wearing one of my own illustrations.

You can order your own pair of skimmers online from Punchdrunk Panda’s Multiply site. Check out their other skimmer designs (I love the blue and orange origami design as well) and products! Make sure to sign up for their mailing list so you get a discount off every purchase. The skimmers are also available at Analog Soul stores (Trinoma and Archeology in Rockwell).

Thanks Jen and Gail! You girls rock!

Monster Sushi

Illustration Friday: Sour

For Illustration Friday’s Sour theme. As they say, there’s no use in crying over spilt milk. Especially if it’s milk gone sour.

Comments will be appreciated! :)

My shirt design up for scoring on Threadless

Monster Sushi on Threadless!

A little over a week ago I submitted my Monster Sushi illustration for a t-shirt design over at Threadless. It’s been approved for scoring and I would really appreciate it if you head on over there to vote! A high overall score helps the Threadless team in deciding which shirts to print and a printed design wins the designer $2000 freakin’ dollars. That’s big money when converted to Pesos; equivalent to around seven months worth of rent on my condo!

So please vote and vote 5 ;) You will need to register after voting (if you don’t already have an account with them) to make your vote count. Registering isn’t that much of a drag because Threadless is a cool site anyway where you can rate fantastic shirt designs and if they get printed, you have the option to buy the shirt(s) you voted for. So head on over there and vote for Monster Sushi!

I get things done when I’m procrastinating. Ironic statement, isn’t it? But really, instead of doing the thing I’m supposed to be doing, I end up doing an entirely different thing most of the time to weasel my way out of more important stuff. Like filling out a three four-page application form for a very important, life-changing test. I drew this guy instead:

Monster Sushi

So, procrastination ain’t all that bad. This will most likely go into this website’s work archives.

But I really should start filling out those forms.
