Aside from the Save the Date wedding e-card, I also designed my cousin’s wedding invitations. They didn’t want anything overly-girly and invites that were too formal-looking (embossed Bickham/Edwardian Script fonts, anyone?) , so this is what I came up with.

Due to restrictions on invitation printing, I was allowed only two colors to work with– dark brown and orange. The plant motif on the side is a modified free Photoshop brush/vector image. The invitations were printed for free by one of the bridesmaids whose family owns a printing press. Don’t you just love free stuff! It came out like this:

The invites came in this envelope bound by a satin ribbon with the wedding seal (which I also designed). The wedding’s color motif is green and orange.

Inside, the envelope expands to reveal the wedding details and a pocket containing the entourage list, map, and RSVP info.

Here’s a close up of the wedding logo/seal I designed which was used for various wedding collaterals like souvenir gift tags and wine labels.

The wedding seal and plant/foliage used on the wedding invitations also made their way to the couple’s photobooth pictures. They rented out an instant photobooth for the night where you can have your pictures printed out right on the spot.

Last but not least, I also made a five-minute audio-visual presentation (AVP) with the couple’s pictures which was played at the reception. Some screencaps:

The wedding was a big success. Every little thing was planned and coordinated down to the littlest detail which made for a truly beautiful celebration. Congratulations to Roxanne and Rudolph!

These logos are the old incarnations of some of today’s biggest tech companies. Take a look at these and guess which products/company they represent.

Aren’t we glad they don’t look like these anymore?

Logo #1 belongs to Adobe
Logo #2 is Apple’s
Logo #3 is Firefox’s, when it was still called Phoenix/Thunderbird
Logo #4 is Canon
Logo #5 is the ubiquitous Microsoft; its retro-style logo a far cry from the glossy Vista interface

Apple, known for their sleek product designs and polished user interfaces, is probably the last company you’d expect to produce a very complicated and intricate logo of Isaac Newton sitting under an apple tree. Steve Jobs thought the complex logo had something to do with the initial slow sales of the company so he had it changed to “the most expensive bloody logo ever designed”– the iconic bitten apple logo in six rainbow colors.

Logo studies for The World Tonight, a nightly news program that airs on ANC. They asked me to come up with studies for the show’s broadcast redesign. The one on top is what they decided to go with.

In the seven years that I’ve had this name and domain, I never once made an attempt to design a logo or identity either for myself or my website. There were fleeting thoughts of designing one, maybe three or four times over the seven-year period, but they were merely faint, half-baked ideas I discarded as fast as they came to me.

So it came as a bit of a surprise when I sat down in front of my laptop this evening, surveyed my website header, mused at how plain it looked without a little icon or graphic next to it when boom– before I realized what I was doing, a logo was born. Just like that. Still have to tweak a few things to suit my taste but the concept is there.

I like moments like this, when inspiration comes up from nowhere and chucks an idea right at you.

A logo I made last Christmas 2006 for my boyfriend whose name is Don King (yes, like the boxing promoter). The logo below is the normal, non-christmas version.
