Yesterday, I posted a drawing of Tard the Grumpy Cat on my Instagram in response to Valentine’s Day, which I really am not a fan of. I like Tard enough, though! Instagram user @aledna left a comment saying she “really needs this as an iPhone wallpaper,” and I thought, why not?


It’s available in two versions– one on a light blue background to match Tard’s eyes and another on a dark background to match Tard’s soul. And mine. I personally think the black background is bad-ass (well, as bad-ass as a grumpy cartoon cat can get).

Free tiling repeat patterns

I just recently learned how to make repeating patterns in Illustrator. It’s easy enough in Photoshop, but there was a different technique involved when making patterns in Adobe Illustrator. With the help of Google and some tutorials online, I tried making my own tiling patterns from bits and bobs from my previous illustrations. I now wonder why I didn’t make an effort to learn how to do it sooner!


I’m offering a free download of four tiling repeating patterns, the result of my first efforts at making repeat tiles in Illustrator.

They’re great as Twitter backgrounds, like how I have it on my Twitter profile. Just make sure to turn on the Tile Background option (it’s under your profile’s settings >> design). You can also use it as a desktop wallpaper (if busy desktops don’t bother you or your desktop is immaculately-free from icons and folders)– there should be a “tile” option in your wallpaper settings so that the single image repeats itself on the screen.


These repeating tiles are free for PERSONAL USE only. In exchange, please do not remove the discreet WEDGIENET.NET watermarks on the images. Not only is it a bit of self-promotion for this site (as an artist– and I use the term loosely– we all appreciate extra eyes on our work), but it also acts as an extra step against commercial theft which tends to happen when anything is offered for free, especially with something as versatile as a repeating pattern (because it can be used for anything– fabric, notebook covers, gift wrap, etc.).

Free printable Christmas gift tags (2012)

Where did the entire year go?! I can’t believe 2012 is coming to a close =| You know what they say– time files when you’re having fun, and have fun I did this year! So much that I didn’t realize there’s only 13 days to go before Christmas, eek! And so I’m uploading this year’s batch of free Christmas printables– 2 days earlier than last year’s (hey, better late than never!).

This year, I’m doing away with the traditional red and green Christmas colors and opting for a still Christmas-y blue, red, and silver. Classy. Also offsetting the clean vector lines in the illustrations with some hand-drawn, scribbly text to give these tags a “made by human hands” look. You get six tags all in all, laid out and ready to print on a single PDF sheet. Just print and cut! It would be great to print these out on cardstock, or on photo paper to get those vibrant, saturated colors. Personally, I would print these on sticker paper (matte or glossy) and just slap them on on my gifts :)


Excuse the politically-correct and neutral holiday messages; I originally made these illustrations for my agent/art licensing portfolio so I had to appeal to most demographics, hence the political-correctness (which I’m not a fan of!). Next year I’ll be sure to include some good old MERRY CHRISTMAS text just to piss off the overly-sensitive ;P

iPhone retina wallpapers

I’ve updated my iPhone wallpapers for the iPhone 4/4S. I had a 3rd generation iPod Touch where I’m using one of my illustrations as a wallpaper for the lock screen. It looked fine, but when I got an iPhone 4S, the same wallpaper looked blurry and pixelated due to the upgrade to a retina screen. I then reworked the existing iPhone wallpapers I have for download to fit the new resolution of the iPhone 4/4S, and added some new designs for both iPhone and desktop.

The iPhone wallpapers work best when set for the lock screen; they are already sized to fit so you won’t need to scale or adjust. Check out the Downloads page to get these, as well as their desktop counterparts and other wallpaper designs. I’ll be adding more wallpapers from time to time!
