Another Illustration Friday missed! Sorry for the lack of updates; I’ve been occupied with some motion graphics projects lately. I didn’t think I’d be going back to animation after my resignation from the TV network but here I am setting keyframes and timing my animation to the beat. It’s very time-consuming, and reminds me why I don’t want to work with motion graphics anymore, but I have to admit it’s a welcome break. Designing for broadcast just isn’t the same as designing for print.

I’ve delegated updating the shop to a later time, probably after my project deadlines but I already have some button pins available!

More available from http://cowcowchickenstore.etsy.com.

I also haven’t made any new illustrations, so I’ll leave you with this instead, a caricature/parody I made two weeks ago of local Filipino actor Diether Ocampo.

I don’t think the humor will lend itself to non-Filipinos, so let’s just leave it at that.

Hopefully I’ll be able to sneak in an entry for IF and some blog entries in between work and deadlines. See you around!

This is my very small, very cramped temporary work area at home. I’m waiting to move into our house’s second floor which will be turned into a studio/working area for me. It’s currently being cleaned out as it is a landfill of my dad’s accumulated stuff/trash over the years– it’s a nightmare! Until then, this is my current working setup. I’m very careful not to spill my cup of water (which I use for rinsing my paintbrush in between colors) on my laptop which is just a few inches away!

This is a little teaser of what I’ve been doing lately. I’ve been working with watercolors and paintbrushes again, something I haven’t done since college, when we made color wheels for Color Theory class. I’m also using spray varnish/acrylic gloss for the first time and although I use the stuff outdoors in our garden, the fumes make my head hurt sometimes. Anyway, this little bear and his winged companion is going in the shop.

I’m getting a big batch of button pins for the shop next week. It’s a bit overdue; I was supposed to have them up two weeks ago but I ran into a few problems with my supplier(s). I managed to scout around for a new one and I’m getting my (initial) order of 200 pins on Tuesday! Some of them will be sold locally; the others will only be available online. Will let you guys know on this blog when I have them up! In the meanwhile, why don’t you go browse my Etsy shop to see if there’s already something you might like?

Have a good weekend, everyone :)

In fact, their packages have already been sent out! I’m talking about the buttons in my blog giveaway– the winners have been drawn using a random number generator and they are (in order drawn) Elizabeth from Michigan, Kris A., a former schoolmate and officemate (we worked in the same broadcasting company but in different departments– she was in Entertainment while I was in News), Alice from Ohio, and Cassie! (Cassie has yet to reply to my e-mail)

I sent out their button pins today (along with a little something thrown in). Congratulations! :) Thank you to all those who entered. Don’t worry, I had a little fun with the giveaway thing so I just might make it a semi-regular thing on my blog. I’m having a big batch of pins made for the Etsy shop and who knows, you might see another contest here in the coming months.

These two guys were up at the shop for less than an hour when somebody came and snatched them up!

They’re on their way to North Carolina as I type this, to live with their new owner. I’m planning to list more of them over at Etsy but in the meantime, you can have a look at the other button pins available :)

Have a good week, everyone!

I’ve been having fun making some button pins lately, something I’ve always wanted to offer ever since I signed up for an Etsy shop earlier this year. I didn’t have the resources or the supplier for the buttons though, so the idea was shelved.

Fortunately, a few weeks ago I randomly found a nice stall at the mall offering button-making services (among other things) and I tried them out with my pinback button blog giveaway (winners have been drawn, by the way, and will be announced soon!) and was pretty satisfied with the product. I now bring you a whole bunch of 2.5-inch button pins I designed, coming soon at http://cowcowchickenstore.etsy.com!
