My Cupcake Bears are a fusion of two of my favorite things: cupcakes, and bears. Cupcakes made a boom here locally about two or three years ago and are still going strong. My favorite cupcake place is Sonja’s Cupcakes in Serendra where I get my favorite Valrhona Chocolate cupcakes. Nom nom!

Anyway, this is a design I’ve had sitting around in some forgotten folder on my hard drive when I remembered I had it about a month ago. I took it out for a spin and reworked this illustration until I got what you see now in the picture above. I’ve since put these cupcake bears on various products on my Etsy shop and reception has been great.

notebookscollage.jpgI have memo pads, stickers (a best-seller), tumblers, and notebooks. Find them here on my shop.

And if you’re craving for real cupcakes, check out the cupcake mint on Etsy. It’s too bad I am overseas so they can’t ship to me but I’ll be content with staring at their cupcake pictures.

I’ve made a few embroidery patterns for Sew It’s For You’s Etsy shop and we’ve decided to make a new pattern available for download just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. We don’t celebrate St. Patrick’s Day here in the Philippines so I had to ask Julie what the holiday involves. “St. Patrick’s Day is an Irish holiday,” she said. “Loads of 4 leaf clovers, leprechauns, green beer, pots of gold, rainbows, drunk ass people…” O-kay, got it! I wasn’t sure I wanted to draw “drunk ass people” on something that might possibly be embroidered on baby burp cloths, so here’s an adorable, family-friendly St. Patrick’s Day PDF pattern for you, free! You can use it as an embroidery pattern or print it out as a coloring page for your kids (or yourself).

Irish Bear embroidery pattern / coloring page

I like the little bear dude a lot (he’s a character I’ve been drawing since my college days– I will have to dig out my early 2002 sketches of him when he looked a lot different from today) so I colored him digitally and turned him into a nice wallpaper also free for download.

Click to download the image above as a desktop wallpaper at the following sizes:
1024 x 768
1280 x 800
1440 x 900

Enjoy!

Illustration Friday: Climbing

It’s been so long since I last participated in Illustration Friday! Here’s one for this week’s theme though. I experimented with a different style of coloring (yeah, what I say when something goes wrong.. haha). Almost trashed this because I couldn’t get the coloring right but I managed to salvage it, eventually. Now I think I like this better than what I had originally pictured in my head.

This little bear is for a project I’m working on with some crafty friends; you’ll be seeing more of this guy very soon! Now is a good time to add this blog to your RSS feeds to get updates as soon as I post them! (What is RSS?)

I also have a new Etsy shop, just waiting to list more items as the weekend approaches so stay tuned for that..

Anyway, here’s another illo I can fit in for the IF topic…

Whiskers

Illustration Friday: Sugary

Bear has a major sweet tooth; he generously covers his paw in honey and as if that’s not enough, he takes a spoonful of sugar with it, too.

I’ve missed about two weeks of Illustration Friday! I also haven’t been blogging here much. For the past few weeks I’ve been doing random freelance projects. I’m currently working on three projects all at the same time but right now I’m in limbo– all projects are awaiting feedback from respective clients and until I receive that feedback, I don’t have much to do :P I was sitting on the couch earlier literally doing nothing. Grateful for the momentary lack of things to do, I busted out my old set of soft pastels and worked on this Illustration Friday submission.

It’s been five years since I last did anything in soft pastel so I’m finding my way again with the medium. Any feedback would be appreciated! :)
