The ruins in Corregidor, a small tadpole-shaped island at the entrance of Manila Bay. 2004.
Corregidor is one of my favorite travel spots in the Philippines. The island became the headquarters of the Allied forces and also the seat of the Philippine Commonwealth government during World War II (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corregidor). The former battleground is now a tourist destination for its rich history and scenic spots filled with structures and remnants from the war. Accessible from Manila by ferry, I’ve been here thrice (twice for a day trip and once overnight) and it’s a place I always look forward to visiting.
